Life in Perth: Shopping

Here are just a few pictures of Hay Street Mall in downtown Perth. It’s a HUGE shopping centre that has just about everything from grocery stores to pharmacies to clothing stores, etc.

I also included some pics of other popular shopping spots in Perth to give you just a little feel of how living in Perth has been thus far...

The street is actually closed off, so that people can cross back and forth from shop to shop without having to worry about being hit by traffic... It's a real "touristy" place.

People just lounging around on a beautiful Sunday afternoon

It ain't no Wal-Mart, but this is my grocery store in Australia - Woolworths or "Woolies." The interesting thing about it, though, is that most of the grocery stores in Australia are located in malls, just like this...

These are the pharmacies... There aren't any Walgreens, Save-Ons, or Rite-Aids in Australia. Instead, you have these little "chemist" shops where you buy all your medications & toiletries.

Weirdly enough, Australia has a Burger King, except they don't call it "Burger King." They call it "Hungry Jacks." For some reason, Australia has a lot of things that the U.S. has, just different names for them. For instance, "Frosted Flakes" are called "Frosties." "Bravo" television network is called "Arena," etc.

Another one of the places I go to get groceries... Subiaco shopping centre

The best place to buy produce in Australia... Street Station Markets in Subiaco... It's like a flea market for produce... For $5 AUD ($3 USD), I can get about 5 oranges, 10 apples, 5 peaches, and 3 nectarines
